💚 Why It's Awesome:
Garnet is truly a remarkable stone, found in almost every color of the rainbow except blue. Over the past fifty years, new varieties of Garnet have been discovered in East Africa, and more exciting finds are anticipated. Garnets hold special significance in love and mythology. In Greek legend, Hades gave Persephone a pomegranate seed (symbolizing Red Garnet) to ensure her return, symbolizing love’s healing powers. Red Garnet’s history and its diverse beauty make it a powerful crystal with deep symbolic meaning.

What Is Red Garnet?
Red Garnet forms when aluminum-rich sedimentary rock undergoes intense heat and pressure, usually in volcanic environments. It belongs to a diverse family of stones, including Almandine, Pyrope, Spessartite, Grossular, Andradite, and Uvarovite. Almandine Garnet, the most common variety, is what typically comes to mind when we think of dark red Garnet. Other varieties, such as Andradites, are even rarer and have a brilliance greater than diamonds due to their high dispersion.

Where It’s Found:
Garnets are found across Europe, the USA (Arizona and New Mexico), South Africa, and Australia. Bohemian garnet deposits discovered in central Europe around 1500 sparked a jewelry revolution. Noteworthy garnets include giant almandine garnets from Gore Mountain, New York, and rare spessartites from Brazil, known for their beauty and size.
